CC3C #9 Stamps and Framelits

Hard to believe that we are on Challenge #9.  I re-purposed a journal we had around the house and claimed it for my very own.  I used the technique described in Tim Holtz's  A Compendium of Curiosities, Volume III on page 63.  The Challenge is hosted by non other than the lovely and talented Linda Ledbetter and generously sponsored this week by Inspiration Emporium.

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2014-August

So I sat down today to work on my August tag.  Tim's instruction was to follow our creative muse.  I had the idea that I would use the tag as a part of a card for my youngest daughter's first day of school.  She had just mentioned that she liked the color combination of orange, brown, and blue. So I gathered the appropriate colors of distress ink.   Unfortunately, or fortunately as things go, the color combination produced a green gold effect which happen to be the colors of my daughter's school.  I found a stamp sentiment to remind her that these were indeed the "Best of Times" and added a distressed flower that I had made for another project.  I dyed ribbon to match and placed the tag at an angle on coordinating card stock.  All in all, I liked how the tag turned card turned out and it will be at the breakfast table tomorrow morning waiting for her.

Faux Luggage Tag

When I think about traveling to far away places...I think of packing in a suitcase made of worn leather. What  a  GREAT  smell.!  I took a stab at creating a tag to represent an old luggage tag using Tim Holtz Vintage  Photo Distress Ink combined with Broken China Distress Paint and Weathered Wood Distress Ink.  I used scrapes of brown suede paper and thin plastic along with the distress stamped image to make my tag.

I wish to enter my tag in the Vintage Travel Challenge over at Frilly and Funkie.
 Thanks for stopping by today

CC3C #7 Painted Industrial

It's late on a Friday night and I am once again waiting until the last minute to post my entry to the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge hosted by the talented Linda Ledbetter.  This challenge features the Painted Industrial technique described on page 46 of Tim Holtz's book of the same name and is generously sponsored by:

Inspiration Emporium $50 Gift Certificate

I started this project with no end product in mind.  I used the Flourish Texture Fade with the Painted Industrial technique and accented it with a faux tea rose from a previous challenge. I chose the Word Band, "Life is about creating yourself" and realized that this would make a perfect card for my boss and mentor who has chosen a new career path.  Sometimes things happen the way they are suppose to :)
